MONTANA – Enjoy abundant sunshine throughout the Treasure State today, but be prepared for some changes in the weather.
Expect breezy to gusty winds prompting Wind Advisories for West Glacier and Flathead Lake this evening, with northeast wind gusts reaching up to 40 mph. Additionally, the eastern plains will experience increased southeast wind gusts up to 40 mph Sunday night into Monday morning ahead of the next disturbance.
Southwestern Montana is likely to see an uptick in shower and thunderstorm activity Sunday afternoon, spreading northeast across the state by Monday morning. Some of the stronger storms may bring localized heavy downpours, hail, and gusty winds.
As snowmelt combines with showers and thunderstorms in the Beartooth Mountains on Sunday and Sunday night, the Clarks Fork of the Yellowstone River could reach Minor Flood stage Sunday night through Tuesday.
As a result, a Flood Watch is in effect for Clarks Fork of the Yellowstone River near Belfry and Edgar, along with Flood Advisories for Sheridan (Big Goose Creek) and Big Horn (Medicine Lodge Archaeological Site) counties in Wyoming. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions to protect their property along the river.
