ANACONDA, Mont. – NonStop Local is your local election headquarters, and this morning, Senator Jon Tester debated his republican opponent Tim Sheehy.
The hour long debate was the first official face off between current Senator Jon Tester and Senatorial candidate Tim Sheehy, featuring fifteen questions reflective of Montana values.
The questions ranged from various topics from affordable housing, to energy production, to border security, foreign aid and more.
One of the most contested questions was asked by Nonstop Local’s own Ben Wineman asking “what do you see as the future of abortion care here in our country and here in the state of Montana?”
Senator Tester answered the question first, with Sheehy rebutting “The vast majority of Montanans and Americans do not want abortion paid for by the taxpayers up to and including the moment of birth. Elective abortions up to and including the moment of birth. Healthy nine-month-old baby killed at the moment of birth. That’s what Jon Tester, the Democrats have voted for. That’s what they put on the table time and again. And the Woman’s Health Correct Act is elective abortions paid for by the taxpayer up to and including the moment of birth.”
“For you to say the killing babies at 40 weeks is total B.S. The bottom line is nobody’s talking about government taxpayer payment for abortions. We’re talking about us. Who makes the decision? Do you want a politician or a bureaucrat or a judge to make the decision if you do vote for him? If you want the woman to make the decision, vote for me,” said Senator Tester.
