Actor Alec Baldwin‘s legal troubles are growing as he confronts a new lawsuit related to the tragic shooting on the set of his film, “Rust.”
Baldwin, who is set to go to trial this summer on charges of involuntary manslaughter for the shooting that resulted in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and the injury of director Joel Souza, is now facing a civil lawsuit brought by Hutchins’ family and a crew member. Baldwin has pleaded not guilty to the charges and continues to deny pulling the gun’s trigger.

The lawsuit, initiated by Hutchins’ mother, father, sister, and Mamie Mitchell (the script supervisor on “Rust”), accuses Baldwin of assault, battery, infliction of emotional distress, and alleges negligence on the part of a larger group of individuals associated with the movie.
Hannah Gutierrez, who was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in March for her role as the film’s armorer in the deadly shooting, is also named in the lawsuit, along with assistant director David Halls, prop master Sarah Zachry, and ammunition supplier Seth Kenney.
Olga Solovey and Anatolii Androsovych, Hutchins’ parents, and her sister, Svetlana Zemko, who reside in Kyiv, Ukraine, filed the lawsuit along with Mitchell, who was next to Hutchins at the time of the shooting.

The plaintiffs allege that the negligence and lack of safety, including the absence of a medical team on set, are attributed to the producers, Halls, Zachry, Kenney, and Gutierrez, but Baldwin is singled out for much of the responsibility.
Baldwin, crew members, and the film’s producers previously settled a wrongful death lawsuit brought by Hutchins’ widow and son. While the lawsuit was settled, the terms of the agreement were kept confidential.
