The Montana Folk Festival in Butte, known for its free and lively performances, received a boost in funding announced by the Montana Department of Commerce on Tuesday.
The 2024 Folk Festival has been granted $25,000 of Economic Impact and Destination Event grant funding, as stated by the department. This annual event attracts thousands of visitors to Uptown Butte every summer.
The 2024 edition of the festival is scheduled to take place on July 12, 13, and 14. The event is supported by prominent sponsors such as the Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation, Montana Resources, Town Pump, and the Markovich Family Foundation, among others.
George Everett, a member of the Montana Folk Festival Executive Committee, expressed gratitude for the grant received.
“We are thankful for the generous backing of the Montana Department of Commerce for the 2024 Montana Folk Festival and pleasantly surprised to be joined by other supported events,” said Everett on Tuesday.  Â

Several other regional events also received Commerce grants with the aim to boost Montana’s economy through tourism. Over $750,000 in grant funding was allocated by the department, to be distributed among 44 events
