BILLINGS — After experiencing the warmest temperatures of 2024 this week, we are expecting a significant cool down early next week. This change in weather could bring heavy rain and mountain snow.
Thursday will be a calm weather day with lighter winds and temperatures ranging from the 70s to low 80s. Ahead of a cold front on Friday, temperatures will peak, reaching well into the 80s, and possibly even into the low 90s, especially east of Billings.
By Friday afternoon and evening, there is a chance for strong to severe thunderstorms, particularly in eastern Montana near the Dakotas. Showers or thunderstorms could occur anywhere in the region, but the eastern Plains may experience heavier rain, gusty winds, and hail.
As we approach the weekend, a deep trough of low-pressure will move through, bringing much cooler temperatures. Father’s Day on Sunday will be cooler with highs in the 70s, dropping to the 50s and 60s by Monday and Tuesday.
The forecast for early next week is uncertain, but potential hazards include heavy rain, mountain snow, and strong winds. Stay tuned for updates!
