Eli Peterson threw a complete game two-hitter, securing the Helena Senators’ (16-10, 7-1 conference) second consecutive shutout in a 1-0 road series sweep victory over the Billings Scarlets on Sunday.
With this performance, Peterson, whose season ERA now stands at 1.66, allowed just two hits and three walks while striking out four.
Tycen Mooney contributed with a go-ahead sacrifice fly in the sixth inning, bringing home Bohden Bahnmiller, who had drawn a walk to start off the frame.
In addition, Carter Perlinski doubled and Aaron Fuzesy singled to help secure the win.
Following their fifth straight victory, thanks to Peterson’s strong pitching, the Senators’ team ERA dropped below 2.40. Along with Will Lyng and Tyler Beaver, the team’s top innings pitchers, they boast a collective 1.29 ERA.
Having won seven of their last eight games, the Senators are heading to Sioux Falls and then to Omaha for a series of games over the next week.
The Senators will not play another home game until June 27, which marks the start of the 29th annual Keith Sell Tournament.
