Isabella Strahan, the 19-year-old daughter of “Good Morning America” co-host Michael Strahan, has successfully completed her final round of chemotherapy after being diagnosed with a rare type of brain tumor. This milestone comes six months after she first shared her diagnosis.
Isabella announced the news in a vlog on her YouTube channel, describing the journey as long but ultimately successful. She mentioned the need to recover and return to her normal state, acknowledging that it will take time but expressing relief that the treatments are now complete.
The emotional video captured the moment when hospital staff and loved ones celebrated her achievement by lining the halls, showering her with confetti, and singing “Celebration” by Kool & The Gang. Isabella, wearing a crown, then rang the bell signifying the end of her cancer treatment.
Michael Strahan shared the touching moment on his Instagram, praising his daughter as a “SUPERWOMAN” for her strength and determination throughout the ordeal.
Isabella’s health journey began when she noticed symptoms while starting her first year at the University of Southern California. She sought medical attention after experiencing headaches, nausea, and difficulty walking, which led to the discovery of a fast-growing tumor in her brain.
Isabella underwent surgery to remove the tumor followed by rehabilitation, radiation, and chemotherapy. Her chemotherapy treatment concluded recently at Duke Children’s Hospital & Health Center, where she rang the bell to mark the end of this phase.
While medulloblastomas are rare and more common in children, Isabella’s case is considered exceptional due to her age. The survival rate for this type of tumor is around 80%, with regular MRI scans to monitor for any signs of recurrence.
