Montana, and specifically those around Billings, had the opportunity to see Wyoming’s Alli Ligocki in action this past weekend during the Montana-Wyoming all-star basketball series.
The Sheridan High School graduate will be joining MSU Billings later this summer to play for Kevin Woodin.
“The environment was a big factor for me. The coaches were amazing. (Woodin) and Alisha (Breen) were so welcoming and genuine. When I met them, I just knew this was where I wanted to be. It’s close to home, which is important to me because my family means everything to me,” Ligocki expressed.
Ligocki’s first adventure with the Yellowjackets? A trip to Belgium and France in early August.
“I’m really looking forward to experiencing a new environment. I’ve never been out of the country before so I have no idea what to expect,” Ligocki shared. “I’m especially excited for the food. I love trying new foods, so I can’t wait to taste everything there.”
Ligocki fits the mold of a Kevin Woodin player. Standing close to 6-feet tall, she possesses a variety of skills, including a solid jump shot. But her talents extend beyond the basketball court.
“I’m still undecided, but I have been considering a career in law. However, I also enjoy writing poetry and would love to become an author,” Ligocki revealed.
On a team dominated by Montanans, Ligocki will bring a touch of Wyoming flavor.
