It was an ordinary morning in downtown Bozeman—until a not-so-ordinary visitor stopped by for a stroll. A cow moose was spotted wandering through the streets near the Target shopping center, casually glancing at storefronts like a curious shopper.
Locals watched in awe and amusement as the massive animal slowly made her way down the sidewalk, pausing here and there as if checking out window displays. Some even joked that she might have been looking for some seasonal deals.
While the sight was certainly entertaining, officials from Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks quickly stepped in to ensure the safety of both the moose and the public. The animal was safely tranquilized and relocated to a more suitable habitat in the nearby mountains.
Incidents like this are a charming reminder of the wild beauty that surrounds Bozeman. As our town grows, it’s important to stay mindful of the wildlife that occasionally wanders into our world—sometimes for a little unexpected “window shopping.”
